Many times the process of aging makes a person look older than they feel. The most common complaints associated with the process of facial aging include: loose skin of the neck and cheeks, the presence of wrinkles, loss of definition of the jawline, and fat atrophy around the mouth
This is our same patient after undergoing a face and neck lift (rhytidectomy) followed by a fat injection around the mouth three months later. The critical part of this surgery was the precise removal of fat in the neck region combined with tightening of the skin and muscles of the neck.
The primary goal in any type of cosmetic surgery is to create a natural, “unoperated” appearance. This is especially true in facial surgery where overtightening can result in an unnatural appearance.
By maintaining a certain degree of softness, combined with removal of the jowls, correction of the lax neck, and volume augmentation around the mouth with fat, a balanced facial appearance can be achieved.
